Auslan in the Workplace

Learning Auslan in your workplace can be a fun and practical way to promote team building that will provide professional development for your staff and also be beneficial for Deaf clients / customers that you either currently have or to promote your company as a deaf friendly business. Our Auslan in the Workplace program offers face to face courses as well as online sessions via Zoom, MS Teams or other platforms.

-

We understand that time is of the essence, our workplace courses can be either a one-off, 2 - 4 hour session or ongoing weekly sessions of 1 - 2 hours. The course will provide an introduction into Auslan that will allow for Auslan conversations in your workplace.

Some of the topics covered are:

  • Communication strategies
  • Auslan alphabet
  • Numbers: including dates, times, money
  • Greetings
  • Obtaining information
  • Instructions
  • Technology
  • Workplace (meeting, interview, office)
  • People (client, customers, staff)
  • General Deaf Awareness
  • General Deaf Etiquette

What is covered in the course is dependent on the time allocated. Additionally staff can request signs and phrases relevant to their workplace and we'll include these in the
training.

Auslan in the Workplace - ONLINE

If we are unable to attend your workplace, an alternative option is our 'Auslan in the Workplace' online course. This course is wholly online without set times for learning. All videos are prerecorded which allows all staff to learn Auslan at their own pace in either their own or workplace time.

If there's a specific group of signs not featured in the course that would help
communication with your customers, we are happy to create a video or videos for staff to download for an additional fee.

Please note that this online course is only available by request, and we require that you have a minimum of 10 staff members that wish to enrol.
